Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), a prime contractor to the Department of Energy (DOE), anticipates a procurement commencing in spring 2013 for research and development (R&D) activities in a program called DesignForward, a strategic research and development program that will provide benefit to future DOE extreme-scale. The objective of the DesignForward program is to initiate partnerships with multiple companies to accelerate the R&D of critical technologies needed for extreme-scale computing. Areas of interest are system design and integration and interconnects. We request that you submit comments/provide input pertaining to the attached DesignForward DRAFT Statement of Work document. We will not issue responses to comments/input received as a result of this request for comments. This request should not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) and no offers are to be submitted at this time. It is anticipated that two RFPs, one in each of the focus areas of system design and integration, and interconnect technology, will be issued. The target date for RFP issuance is mid April, 2013. It is planned that the RFPs will be posted on a web page, with email notification to you when they are available. To register interest in receiving the RFP, please respond to lerippe@lbl.gov as soon as your company determines whether it is interested in submitting a proposal and provide the name, email address and phone number of your primary point of contact. LBNL reserves the right to discontinue plans to procure DesignForward with no responsibility to interested parties. LBNL will not be responsible for costs incurred by companies that respond to this request or to any subsequent RFP, and will not reimburse companies for such costs. |
